A.C.T. Founds Talk About Their Inaugural Performance - Interview
Amicus Community Theater (A.C.T. Productions) Comes to the Chance Theater for their Inaugural Run, June 26-28, 2026.
Attorneys and co-founders Aleece Hanson and Rheannon Rozewski, along with choreographer Taylor Ozuna, discuss the launch of Amicus Community Theater (A.C.T. Productions) company and its inaugural production, ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’.
Amicus Community Theater (A.C.T. Productions) was founded by attorneys and performing arts advocates Rheannon Rozewski and Aleece Hanson to produce high-quality theatrical works while expanding performance opportunities in Southern California’s competitive arts community. The company’s name, “Amicus,” Latin for friend or ally and a term used in law to describe a supporter of the court, reflects its commitment to collaboration, advocacy and community.
A.C.T. Productions is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive environment for artists and audiences alike. Through inclusive casting and a welcoming creative process, the company seeks to ensure that performers from diverse backgrounds have opportunities to participate and thrive.
The company’s inaugural production has already sold out its three-night, five-performance run at the Chance Theater in Anaheim, CA. The production is presented through Chance Theater’s Visiting Company Initiative, a program that provides emerging theater companies with access to professional performance space and production resources.
‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ follows an eclectic group of six middle school students, portrayed by adults, as they compete for a spelling championship. Along the way, they reveal humorous and heartfelt stories from their home lives while navigating increasingly challenging words. As each contestant faces elimination, only one speller can emerge victorious.
Directed by Aleece Hanson and Rheannon Rozewski, the production features musical direction by Kim Le, choreography by Taylor Ozuna and production design by Haven Hanson.
‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ features music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, is conceived by Rebecca Feldman and includes additional material by Jay Reiss.
