Brett Penager Turns Wrestling Lessons Into a 'Larger Than Life' Purpose - Interview
Brett Penager helps youth find their purpose through the sport of wrestling in his new book, 'Larger Than Life: In Pursuit of Discovering Your Full Potential.'
I spoke with Brett Penager about his book, “Larger Than Life: In Pursuit of Discovering Your Full Potential,” a blueprint for building a legacy.
Penager is an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year winner, former collegiate wrestler, former Chiro One executive, speaker, author and board member of Beat the Streets Chicago. Throughout our conversation, we explored how the lessons learned on the wrestling mat continue to shape leadership, personal growth and resilience long after competition ends.
While many parents search for activities that help their children build confidence, discipline and resilience, Penager believes wrestling remains one of the most overlooked yet impactful options. The sport teaches accountability because there’s nowhere to hide, develops confidence through preparation and builds resilience by learning to overcome setbacks.
As a supporter of Beat the Streets Chicago, Penager is helping expand access to wrestling for young people who otherwise might never have the opportunity to experience the sport. His work reflects the same message at the heart of “Larger Than Life” is growth comes from embracing challenges, developing discipline and pursuing your full potential.
Penager and I also discuss our shared love of wrestling and how people can recapture the fire and sense of purpose that may have diminished over time.
